Note
Keeper Khanandas Karunadasa (Kay), who arrived at Chester in 1941 with two elephants, Molly and Mannikin, is in 4 photos with Molly. He had trained them in Sri Lanka as a ten-year-old mahout and been with a travelling circus before joining Chester Zoo as a keeper specialising in elephants and later also hippos and rhinos.
