"Sue has just given birth to a calf named Sammy. And Sammy is something of a 'miracle baby'. His father killed three mates before accepting Sue. But Sue is of tougher stock. And she has survived - even though she has been badly mauled in the process. And now she's determined that Sammy will survive too. So she chases away even the swan who came to take a look at the sea lions' lake at Chester Zoo. Then she swims back to Sammy to give him a motherly nuzzle and assure him that all is well."

In the English Channel she was diverted to Copenhagen because of the outbreak of horse sickness in England and therefore not allowed to disembark. Spent two and a half years in quarantine in Copenhagen. Spent another one-and-a-half years in quarantine in England before arriving for show at Chester Zoo. So Daisy is now nicely settled down in 1969 with her 4-day-old baby son."
